New entry-level course aims to shape the next generation of marine supply professionals.
IMPA has officially opened the window for registrations of interest for its long-anticipated Online Foundation Course in Maritime Procurement, a first-of-its-kind online education programme created to support newcomers entering the maritime supply chain industry.
Set to launch on 15 September 2025, the course offers a flexible and fully online learning experience designed for individuals at the start of their procurement careers, as well as companies seeking to train junior staff.
“This programme is about laying the right foundation,” said Stephen Alexander, IMPA Secretary General and COO. “It’s built by experienced professionals who understand the challenges of stepping into the industry for the first time. We believe this course will offer an accessible and high-quality introduction to one of shipping’s most vital functions.”
The curriculum covers six key modules including an introduction to the maritime industry, procurement and logistics fundamentals, the role of technology, and sustainability in the supply chain. The self-paced format allows students to study at their own convenience, with a recommended pace of 4–6 hours per week over approximately 12 weeks.
The early-bird registration fee is set at £349 per student, with bespoke packages available for companies enrolling multiple staff. Registered students will also receive:
- 12 months’ access to the course content and online platform;
- A Certificate of Completion upon passing the final assessment;
- Optional career mentorship with industry professionals;
- A complimentary one-year IMPA Student Membership, granting access to the organisation’s global resource hub and events;
- An exclusive VIP invitation to IMPA London 2025 (9–10 September), where students can attend live industry sessions and network with professionals from around the world.
Prospective students and company representatives are encouraged to download the Student Prospectus, which outlines full course content, registration steps, and support services. Registrations of interest can now be submitted via the IMPA Education website.
