Improving the IMPA Academy

IMPA Education Working Group meets to discuss revamp of the online programmes

Having recently met in Delft to put in place the strategy for the next academic year, the Education Working Group has had a lot to plan.

IMPA CEO Susan Koefoed, COO Stephen Alexander and Senior Project Manager Jasmine Schestak have recently travelled to the Netherlands to meet with Rob C. Scharff and Jacha Hulsker of Allseas Group, the two engineers of the IMPA online education programmes for maritime procurement and supply chain management. The main topic of discussion? The strategy around the next IMPA academic year and the online programmes that are currently under preparation.

Among the many highlights, this is what the group agreed to continue working on before the launch of the programme:

  • Methods of learning - from using the flipped classroom model to ensure engagement during online discussions to using case methods and business games to encourage brainstorming while analysing real-life scenarios, we will be working on producing some exciting ways for our students to learn.
  • A highly-specialised curriculum - we are not going to lie; we like to design programmes that challenge what you know so far, so we will make sure to develop them in a way that takes students out of their comfort zones and pushes them to strive for excellence. It's all part of our plan to ensure that you leave the course empowered and comfortable to readily apply theory to practice.
  • Video seminars - we will work on video lessons that will make you excited to learn a new topic every day and will keep you engaged throughout the course.

With course commencement dates still under consideration, we will be launching our new freshly-designed student prospectus any day now, so make sure to come back regularly or subscribe to our newsletter.
